Three days ago, on Saturday the 22nd, 2005, a historic event went down in the city of Dallas. After weeks of preparation and meticulous planning, the first ever Unity Day celebration was held, an annual event meant to celebrate the city and its citizens as a whole, including those of the vampiric persuasion. At was a smashing success.
People piled into the streets in droves to enjoy the festivities, the free entertainment and booths. The security detail seemed to be doing its job and well, patrolling the crowds and keeping rowdy protesters at bay. It all seemed to be progressing swimmingly.
But when the Mayor was scheduled to talk to the people, he never showed up. As the organization began to fall apart, the rest of the evening decayed into an act of blatant terrorism that has yet to have occurred in the city's recent history.
Bombs including silver dust and shrapnel were set off, leaving dozens injured. Early into the morning after the event, 7 year old Frederick Harper succumbed to death due to internal bleeding despite a valiant attempt by the hospitals finest surgeons to keep him alive.
Now we are left with questions. Why would anyone want to destroy such a fine ideal? Why would anyone strive to perpetuate such violence? Who's to blame, and when will justice prevail?
Only one thing is for sure. The spirit and the hearts of Dallas are with the Harper family, and we wish them our best.
