Setting up meetings is really more of something a secretary would be handy for. However, the new Sheriff is prone to do whatever her Maker requests of her, even if she had not promised to do so. Tracking down Fontane is much easier than setting up a meeting with the Alpha of the Muea Tseena Pack. A telephone call will just not cut it oft times between one leader or another, and words can be easily misconstrued when body language cannot be monitored.
The call that was made simply requested a face to face meeting, around eight in the evening, at the Kidd Spring Park. Most of the children that would frequent the park with their parents don't linger long after dark, and so it is easy for a pale woman to slip through it without seeming creepy. Isobel edges into the tree line, eyes shifting left and right to ensure that she is not being followed and that she will be able to find the man within the trees.
And from the trees, Eli appears, almost as if miraculously fading out of nature itself. His posture is straight, his chin held high, and the general air he carries around with him is that of a born leader - a man who's prepared, and confident, and above all - strong. The cool air around them is sniffed, just as his eyes flash around in the darkness, taking stock of their surroundings, before he saunters closer to the Sheriff. She might be able to tell that they are not, indeed, the only ones here - farther off in the trees, other werewolves can be found. But they're not hostile. They will not act unless given the signal by Eli.
"You know, I'll never quite get used to it," the grizzled man gruffs, looking over Isobel. "Y'look like a damn baby. The years have been kind to you, Miss Symon." Of course, that phrase is tinged with his dark humor.
Appealing to her minor vanity, the comment is greeted with a smile. Then a dip of her head in a nod. "Things were much different when I was turned, Mr. Donato. Many young women already had plenty of bairns by the time they were my age, and were well on their way to preparing for grandchildren as well." Ahh, the times of marriage contracts and the like. "The years have been kind to you as well. Though I fear you may not like the message I bring to you this eve." Isobel steals only the briefest of glances to the forest, and chuckles. "Unnecessary, as I do not mean you harm, but prudent of you to bring them as in essence this will effect them as well."
"Don't you mind my boys. If I thought you were goin' ta try something funny, I wouldn't be here. I aint stayed alive on account of my trusting nature. As it is, I don't go nowhere without them - but they won't do anything." Eli assures the vampire with a casual wave of his hand. "Let's get to the point then, Miss Symon? Why did you bring me here? Or is it something to do with the shifter that attacked the Cornetts?"
"In part." Isobel does get right to the point then. "The new King of Texas has laid claim upon one of the Cornett's. From the information he was able to gather, the shifter - thought to be a werewolf though it seems your intel is much more recent than ours - is associated with the Austin pack." There is a stillness within her, an unwillingness to move or to in anyway denote herself as human while among this group of supernaturals. "More to the point, the King would like to set up a meeting with you to discuss his ascension. Mr. Grant is no longer Sheriff within our city, I am. I should like to proffer you the same deal that you had with him. Should either of us need the assistance of the other, it will be there. Within our own political structures, however, we hold no sway over one another."
"Don't tell me," Eli gruffs out, "That your King has called for the death of the two-natured. We do not meddle in the affairs of vampiric justice and we require the same in return. I suggest you inform Mister Grant of this. But if you are here to set up a meeting, I suppose that I can do the honors. And oh? Well, congratulations, Miss Symon. I do hope that we can continue on in prosperity and cooperation, as before. I don't see why it would change, unless you plan on ruling differently then your predecessor."

Isobel holds her hand up quietly to stave off his anger. In a cool, calm manner, she simply states, "I know not his intentions of retribution. However, there was some mention of your territory being expanded to cover Austin as well. That is something that the new King can work out with you as it goes far beyond my current position and into matters I do not wish to mire myself in." A nod is given to him. "I /will/ tell you, Mr. Donato, that the majority of the Austin pack that did choose to aid Kegan Kinnel in his quest to eradicate our kind have either been killed in the warehouse fire, or ran off into hiding since then." A gleeful smile curves her lips and she shakes her head. "I have very little plans to change anything that was already set forth, and as the King intends to stay in Dallas rather than move to the capital, I am certain that most of your dealings will be directly with him regardless."
Eli nods in Isobel's direction, eyeing her curiously. "Well then, I do believe we have an accord, Missy. I don't care much what happens on Austin soil. Well…yet. But we will see where the tides take us. Is that all the nature of our business, Miss Symon? Or is there more you wished to discuss?"
Already, Isobel has turned to take her leave. The nights /are/ beginning to grow shorter. The question causes a slight pause. "Two things. There was a twin-souled who aided the King's claimed in rescuing him. If you could find out who it was, and offer the name to either myself or the King so that they may be duly compensated for their help, I would be most grateful." A slow, drawn out pause. "News of the elder Cornett woman would not go unwelcome either, so that I may tell his Majesty how she is faring."
Eli adopts a curious tilt of his head, and he examine Isobel once more. "I shall throw it out there, then, and find the twin-natured for you. As for the Cornett woman? She has been afflicted with the residual toxins of my kind. This full moon, she transformed into a creature that is not quite wolf, but not quite human, either. She will continue to experience this transformation for the rest of her life, I'm afraid. As of right now, this is all the information I have regarding her case."
"She will be protected by the Pack." Less a question, more a statement. Isobel nods, then turns to make her way through the trees once more. "Please keep me informed as to the twin-souled. You may leave a message for me at any time, and I will take care of the compensation."
