A Night at the Grisly Bar

Synopsis

February 27, 2005 - Abbey happens upon Orion at the Grisly Bar. He thanks her for some recent help and gives her an update on his quest for answers.

Setting

Grisly Bar:

Worn wooden floors stained with ages of spilled drinks (and worse), creak under the feet of patrons as they enter the dark, disordered room. Though dust has settled over a lot of the establishment, making it appear abandoned, the flow of customers would speak differently. Dirty glasses, some with sticky yellow patches in the bottom where beer or scotch has been allowed to dry, stand on one end of the bar.

Several of the windows have been bricked up to prevent vandalism, but create a great fire-hazard. There is a tarnished mirror on the wall behind the bar with a chipped and fading Art Nouveau nymph painted across the bottom.

Cast

Abbey:
There's no telling what her age is, somewhere in the early twenty's if someone was to guess. Her height is about 5'9 a bit on the tall side but nothing that abnormal. Long bright red-orange, lose spiral curls are found upon her, it flows down to her mid back and can be often found pulled into a pony tail to keep it out of the way. A few lose curls fall to either side of her cheeks, and bangs rest just a bit above her eyes.

Her clothing isn't anything un-normal. A short or long sleeved shirt can be found on her depending the day or the weather, most dark colored. Black or blue ankle length jeans are found on her lower half, they tend to be a bit snug on her hips and flow down the rest of her leg. Her foot wear also depends on the weather, or what she's doing. Sneakers or boots are her choices though. A thick leather cord rests around her neck with a pewter dragon charm upon it, the two inch charm holds within its grasping forepaws is a pale blue gem. Depending on the weather is what jacket she wears a long black leather duster or a more simple leather jacket.

Three golden studs can be found upon the edge of both ears, another silver stud found in her right eyebrow. She also has a good collection of tattoos and scars. An old small slightly jagged scar rests across her right cheek, others found elsewhere on her. Black tribal like tattoo markings curl around and then down both of her forearms to circle around her wrists in a Celtic knot work pattern. Other tattoos are unseen thanks to her clothing. Her eyes are an interesting pale icy blue color; rather eerie in a way which tends to make her stand out if anyone pays enough attention to her.

___

Orion:
You see a man in his mid thirties who stands a little over six feet and weighs approximately 180 pounds. One can tell by looking at him that he works out regularly. His face is rugged but attractive, usually with a couple of days worth of stubble on his cheek. His hair is brownish red and cropped short, spiking up a bit on top. His eyes are deep gold and appear to be almost an unnatural shade. He bears a tattoo of a paw print on his left upper arm. When the man speaks, he has a very distinct Irish accent. It is strong, but not to the point that he is difficult to understand.

The man is wearing a tight fitting brown shirt with blue jeans. He has brown boots on and a silver watch on his right wrist. His ears are each pierced with a silver ring, and he has mirrored sunglasses pushed up on his head.

Scene

What a lovely bar this is. The floor is sticky and covered in cigarette butts. The people in this place appear less than savory. They seem to be the dredges of society, the drunken and forgotten wastes of humanity. Why then is Orion sitting in this place? The whiskeys cheap and hes unlikely to run into anyone he knows. He sits at the bar drinking a glass of iced whiskey while eyeing a drunken man next to him with distain. He waves a hand in front of his face to push away the smoke and frowns slightly, but then he goes back to drinking his drink and reading a paper in front of him.

___

Well perhaps most of the people Orion doesn't know wouldn't be able to find him here, but then Abbey isn't looking for him after all. She is making her way on into the bar, the door closing behind her while she casts a glance around and then moves on over to the bar to take over a seat. She stretches a moment and lets her arms fold upon the bar in front of her after ordering a beer and a whiskey. Most of the day she spent working, and thus now is her time to relax.

___

Orion turns to the drunken man next to him and frowns, it appears the man has said something especially distasteful to Orion. He opens his mouth to say something and stops himself. It appears that he knows someone in this bar. He stands and walks over, taking his drink with him. He sits next to Abbey and smiles. “Well well. I thought that only I liked horrible places like this.”

___

Abbey blinks slightly and peers curiously at the voice and smirks faintly. "Evening Orion." She says with an amused tone. "Well.. I work near here so I come by often of course." This said with an amused tone. "How are you doing?" A glance is sent towards the man that he was near eariler.

___

Orion smiles broadly, he looks like he hasn’t shaven in a few days. “Oh I’m doing pretty well actually. Spoke to that fella you pointed in me direction a few weeks back. You know, the one who has a dog similar to mine.” He nods, deciding himself quite clever for speaking in code. “He was rather helpful, though I was left with a few more questions. He suggested looking up me mom’s side of the family. But I’m sure there are plenty of Murphys in Ireland. Might be hard to track down the right ones.”

___

Abbey hums faintly while she peers at him a moment and soon ahs. "Well that's good. Glad you got some answers on that dog problem." She says with an amused tone and soft chuckle escaping her. A sip is taken from her drink while she listions to Orion. "Murphy?.. I have a Murphy working at the Garage. He has a dog like yours too."

___

Orion nods. “Answers yes, but also more questions. It seems there are some things I need to learn how to do myself.” He shrugs. “It’s unfortunate, but I suppose that I couldn’t really expect the animal training to be so easy. Otherwise I would have figured it out on y own already. I do have a few ideas, though.” He perks up and looks a bit confused at the mention of Murphy. “Really? That can’t be. I mean, what are the chances he would be related to me. How similar is his dog? Is it black like mine?”

___

Abbey shrugs slightly at this. "Well.. You met him that night at the park.." She points out meaning the night that that was in there other forms and the dog appeared with the rabbit. "So, its basicly just a different color then yours. Still the same breed." Meaning still a shifter.

___

Orion ponders for a moment. “The night…At the park…” He frowns and takes a drink of his whiskey. “OH! THAT night. Right. Really?” He frowns again, “I think I scared the piss out of him last time I saw him. Maybe I should visit him during the day. You said he works at your shop?” He ponders for a moment. “I wonder if he really is from my mother’s side. He look Irish to you? I suppose it is likely that some of the clan would come to the United States over time.”

___

Abbey smirks faintly. "Right.. Not like the other canine there scared him or anything." After all she remembers going after Murphy because of a rabbit. "An.. No his more of a.." There's a pause as she thinks of the word. "A redneck I suppose is the word. Nothing Irish about him save the last name."

___

Orion laughs. “Oh yeah, maybe it was the both of us, though my dog does look a might bit more frightening, no offense. And if he’s of Irish descent that might make Blackie look even more frightening to him.” He laughs again at Abbey’s next comment. “A redneck, eh? How unlikely to run into something like that here in Texas.” He smirks and casts a nasty glance at a man behind Abbey who looked a bit annoyed at the redneck comment.

___

Abbey doesn't have a problem with the comment she said, a slight glance is offered towards man behind her and she eyes him faintly. "What?" Is questioned with a thin tone. Needless to say no one wants to really start with her at the moment. "You could come by and talk to him sometime. Don't think that would be a problem.

___

Orion scratches the back of his head and hesitates for a moment. “Well when you say redneck. Is he like, you know. One of them really crass and unfriendly types? I tend to not trust them so much.” They tend not to like his kind, rather. “Actually I suppose I’d like to talk to him regardless. Hey sir! I’m maybe your distant cousin. How’re you!” He imagines how his conversation might go.

___

Abbey ehs softly for a moment, while eyeing the other man leave. "I'll talk to him first and then let you know how's that?" She questions while smirking as she peers back at Orion.

___

Orion nods. “That sounds good to me. I’d appreciate that, thanks.” He finishes off his whiskey. “Oh, that older fellow we met at the coffee bar stopped by the museum the other night, too. Friendlier than I’d assume for his kind.” He’s talking about Michael, but he’s not sure if Abbey will recall. “That was you with me at the time, right? His name was Michael.”

___

Abbey nods at this while she lifts a hand to rub at her eyes a few times. "Oh.. the leech?" She questions with an amused tone an slight face. "I think I was.. Ah yes Michael, i suppose his alright for one of them.." She really doesn't seem to like vampires for some reason or another.

___

Orion chuckles and shushes the woman. “What if there’s one in here now?” He looks around and shakes his head. “Never mind. I doubt there’d be one here.” He shrugs, “That one seems very agreeable, granted he is quite old. Maybe they mellow out with age. Er…Actually he’s the only one I’ve met, so I guess I can’t judge.” He rubs his chin, “No wait, there was another but she was…” He is cut off as the bartender drops a mug of beer and spills its contents all over the man next to him. He gives Abbey a look. “Coincidence? Or bad luck?”

___

Abbey smirks and shrugs. "They don't scare me." She points out to the vampire comment. "The one that was sneezing?" This questioned as she glances towards the spilling of the beer and chuckles hearing Orion. "I wouldn't call it bad luck, stuff happens and it doesn't always come down to 'bad' luck." She says with an amused tone before she shifts upwards so she's standing. "As much fun as this is I should get going.."

___

Orion looks at the spill suspiciously. “Yes, the sneezy one. Oh yeah, you were there, too. I forgot about that.” He looks up at her and smiles. “Alrighty, well have a good night. I’ll stay here a bit longer. Need to reach my quota of alcohol for the evening.” He raises his glass to her. “And thanks again for the info. You seem to know somebody for everything.”

___

Abbey looks amused as she hears Orion. "Well… Remember I have that bottle of whiskey you gave me too. Need someone to drink it with." Drinking is always better with others after all. She winks at him and then turns to leave. "See you around Orion." This said while she makes her way to the door and then slips outside heading homewards.
