Synopsis .
February 28, 2005 - Dan happens upon Orion at the lake. Pleasant conversation ensues. [[NOTE: Incomplete Scene]]]
Setting
Lake Highlands:
The Lake Highlands neighborhood was built for recreation. Filled with biking trails, forest, and the easiest access to White Rock Lake, it's become a neighborhood known for its draw to families. There are quite a few subdivisions filled with moderately sized houses with fenced in yards, beautiful gardens, and clean sidewalks. Street lights keep the roads well light at night, and the traffic generally slows down after dark.
Dan:
Standing at 6'0" and of a fairly slender build the man before you is in his mid-to late twenties at most, he has short cut blond hair kept just scruffy enough not to seem accidental, his eyes are a dark brown. Hes got just the first hint of stubble showing.
Slender, yet looking as though he exercises regularly the mans dressed casually, a black T-shirts worn, also he wears faded blue jeans and white trainers.
___
Orion:
You see a man in his mid thirties who stands a little over six feet and weighs approximately 180 pounds. One can tell by looking at him that he works out regularly. His face is rugged but attractive, usually with a couple of days worth of stubble on his cheek. His hair is brownish red and cropped short, spiking up a bit on top. His eyes are deep gold and appear to be almost an unnatural shade. He bears a tattoo of a paw print on his left upper arm. When the man speaks, he has a very distinct Irish accent. It is strong, but not to the point that he is difficult to understand.
The man is wearing a tight fitting brown shirt with blue jeans. He has brown boots on and a silver watch on his right wrist. His ears are each pierced with a silver ring, and he has mirrored sunglasses pushed up on his head.
Scene
The lake is pleasant right now. The air is slightly cool, blowing through the branches of the trees on the forested side of the park. A few errant clouds occasionally obscure the sun and cast a shadow across the lake, but for the most part it is sunny. Orion is sitting on a large rock near the water, staring out at it and occasionally chucking a small stone into the water. He casually watches a jogger on the other side of the lake before sighing and turning back toward the trees, noting the family having a picnic over there.%
___
Dan's wearing lighter weight winter coat, his hands dug into the pocket a cheerful grin spread across his face as he takes a few glances around the lake, he makes his way toward Orion as he spots him.
___
Orion turns back toward the water and tosses a few more stones before feeling something odd inside of him. It’s that same odd feeling he gets when another shifter is around. He turns and sees Dan approaching. Orion stands and stretches before jumping down off the rock to greet the other man. “Hello there, Dan. Didn’t expect to see you here, though it is a nice day. Suppose it’s the place to be today. How’ve things been?”
___
Still grining Dan nods to Orion. "I'm pretty good, how about you?" He takes a quick glance around. "Have any trouble with the moon?" He speaks a little quietly. "Lord knows I have in the past."
___
Orion chuckles. “Oh no. I’m used to the moon by now. Abbey and I went out, came here actually.” He gestures to the park around him. “Honestly the days of the moon are harder for me. Make me all loopy and such.” He tips his head and looks at the group of people behind Dan, frowning. He looks back at Dan. “Been spending my free time here, trying to see if I can’t figure out how to unlock my hearing and all that. I can do it when I’m pissed, why not all the time, right?” He shrugs, “Maybe I’m just hopeful.”
___
Frowning Dan looks at Orion. "Abbey stayed in town?" He sounds a little surprised, but he shrugs it away quickly enough. "Yeah, I get a little moody myself, although I've pretty much got that under control these days."
___
Orion gives a curious expression to Dan, “Yes, she stayed in town. Though it took some convincing to get her to come out at night.” He shrugs. “I just try to avoid doing certain things, like driving and interacting with people. I try to just take those days off from work, actually.” He looks around the park again, “Actually this place wasn’t so ideal. It seems there’s always someone running around. You know of any safe places for moonlit nights? Places away from the prying eyes of the public?”
___
Shrugging Dan shakes his head. "Nah, I generally just prowl as something that's not going to attack humans unfortunately, or I fly. I find it's pretty easy to keep out of trouble as an owl." He smiles slightly. "I thought the whole going out to the woods was a good idea myself, I'm surprised Abbey changed it."
___
Orion scratches the back of his head, “Yeah well I turn into a horrifying dark omen from legend. Not really something people want to bump into in the middle of the night. And Abbey took a bit of convincing. Granted it was evening and my mind was slipping. A dog can be persistant when he wants to go outside.” He chuckles. “Or it may have had to do with that man that stopped by. A police officer. He was a werewolf, though I was too distracted to pay him much mind.”
___
Shrugging Dan nods. "Then go out into the forests, take some gear and camp out." He shrugs. "I heard that's what Abbey does as a rule, I'm surprised she didn't this time."
___
Orion nods, “Camping could work. I’m a little worried about some of the creatures out there, though. Don’t you have cougars? And the pack. And chupacabras. I suppose if I stayed near the camp it wouldn’t be too dangerous.” He shakes his head. “I think she was planning on staying indoors that night until I convinced her otherwise, but that is a question for her.”
