Attack of the Black Wolf

Synopsis

March 16, 2005 - Orion finally meets Murphy in human form. Murphy is attacked by a large black wolf, which causes Orion to shift to save him. Abbey walks in at just the right moment so that it seems as though Orion was the attacker.

Setting

Bunker's Garage and Salvage:

Bunkers's Garage and Salvage sits on a rather large lot in the West Dallas neighborhood. The parking lot is small, and one spot is occupied at all times by a beat-up tow truck. Two fully equipped bays, complete with safety notices on the walls are for employees only. To the right side of the bays is an office, containing a simple desk with a grubby looking computer, and a filing cabinet. Behind the desk is a small whiteboard which lists inspection prices, and those for other services. The walls are decorated with a few small display cases where items available for sale are located.

Abbey:
There's no telling what her age is, somewhere in the early twenty's if someone was to guess. Her height is about 5'9 a bit on the tall side but nothing that abnormal. Long bright red-orange, lose spiral curls are found upon her, it flows down to her mid back and can be often found pulled into a pony tail to keep it out of the way. A few lose curls fall to either side of her cheeks, and bangs rest just a bit above her eyes.

Her clothing isn't anything un-normal. A short or long sleeved shirt can be found on her depending the day or the weather, most dark colored. Black or blue ankle length jeans are found on her lower half, they tend to be a bit snug on her hips and flow down the rest of her leg. Her foot wear also depends on the weather, or what she's doing. Sneakers or boots are her choices though. A thick leather cord rests around her neck with a pewter dragon charm upon it, the two inch charm holds within its grasping forepaws is a pale blue gem. Depending on the weather is what jacket she wears a long black leather duster or a more simple leather jacket.

Three golden studs can be found upon the edge of both ears, another silver stud found in her right eyebrow. She also has a good collection of tattoos and scars. An old small slightly jagged scar rests across her right cheek, others found elsewhere on her. Black tribal like tattoo markings curl around and then down both of her forearms to circle around her wrists in a Celtic knot work pattern. Other tattoos are unseen thanks to her clothing. Her eyes are an interesting pale icy blue color; rather eerie in a way which tends to make her stand out if anyone pays enough attention to her.

Murphy:

___

Orion:
You see a man in his mid thirties who stands a little over six feet and weighs approximately 180 pounds. One can tell by looking at him that he works out regularly. His face is rugged but attractive, usually with a couple of days worth of stubble on his cheek. His hair is brownish red and cropped short, spiking up a bit on top. His eyes are deep gold and appear to be almost an unnatural shade. He bears a tattoo of a paw print on his left upper arm. When the man speaks, he has a very distinct Irish accent. It is strong, but not to the point that he is difficult to understand.

The man is wearing a tight fitting brown shirt with blue jeans. He has brown boots on and a silver watch on his right wrist. His ears are each pierced with a silver ring, and he has mirrored sunglasses pushed up on his head.

Scene

The night is cool and slightly breezy, but otherwise pleasant. Orion stops outside of Abbey’s garage and looks out toward the street, it seems that some people are fighting out in a distance, but it is of little concern to him. He shrugs and heads inside, hoping to find Abbey. He stops when he sees that the light to her office is off and places his hands on his hips. “Odd, the door was unlocked. Abbey?” He calls out for her, wondering I she’s in. The man wanders a bit further into the garage and spots a man working. “Oh, hey. Sorry to barge in. The boss lady around? Said I’d help her find her dog.” His accent is acutely Irish, but not hard to understand.

___

Murphy straightens up and presses his knuckles in at the small of his back when he hears someone approaching, peering over towards Orion when the other man comes into view. Apparently judging the stranger a non-threat, Glen reaches over to pluck up a rather suspiciously vodka-scented water bottle and take a quick swig before responding. "Evenin'. And Abbey don't have no dog, really, save for a stray that wanders 'round here sometimes to beg fo'r scraps."

__

Orion tilts his head, “Really? Well I suppose it’s not a stretch to suspect that Steele just wandered…off…” Orion looks at Murphy suspiciously. He’s getting that odd feeling that he often gets around other shifters, and this man looks slightly familiar. Where did he see this man before. He snaps his fingers and a look of realization crosses his face. “Ah! Eli’s…Bar-B-Q. That’s where I saw you.” He eyes Murphy, watching for a response. He had decided to use this code just in case he is wrong about the other man.

___

Being reminded of that fabulously unpleasant meeting isn't high on Murphy's list of Fun Things, and the mention gets Orion a squinty-eyed look. "I'll assume you're referrin' to the fabulous meetin' where some cranky old vet tried to tell everyone else how to act." He sets the water bottle down and wipes his mouth with the back of his sleeve, eyebrows arching.

___

Orion rubs the back of his head and smiles crookedly. “Um, yeah I suppose that’d be the one. And I’ll take it from your response that you’re not one of the pack members. Also the fact that you work for Abbey. You know I don’t think she likes them very much.” He frowns. “But why didn’t she mention you before? I mean, you’d think she’d mention another shifter in a place I frequent so often.” He shrugs and holds out a hand, “I’m Orion. Orion Donnelly.” Of the Donnelly clan in Ireland. Orion assumes by this man’s demeanor and accent that he’ll not have heard of obscure Irish legends, though his family is known for their association with the cursed black hound.

___

Silly Orion - to know any of that sort of thing, Murphy'd have to be educated beyond the level of a high schooler! In all likelihood he'd just stare slackjawed if the legends as a subject was even mentioned at all. For now, though, Murphy just shrugs. "Steele'll turn up, if'n he's missin'. Dogs tend to wander, y'know." The man hesitates a moment when he's offered a shake before taking the stranger's hand in his, grasping firmly and giving one strong movement of his forearm to complete the gesture. "Glen Murphy."
___

Orion shakes the man’s hand, his smile fading slightly and being replaced with a look of concern now. “Murphy? Glen Murphy? Abbey did mention you.” He looks the man over once or twice and shakes his head. “Well that’s an Irish name. And you can shift.” He shakes his head, “But you don’t seem Irish at all.” He seems to snap out of his slight daze. “Um…Yeah Murphy’s my mum’s maiden name. She was a shifter. Abbey thought the Murphys here may have been relatives, but you’ve obviously lived here a while…” There is a small crashing sound as a toolbox falls off a shelf in the back of the room. Orion snaps his head in the direction of the noise, but sees nothing at the moment. “Sorry, sometimes stuff like that happens around me sometimes.”

___

Murphy frowns a bit and pulls his hand back rather quickly, hitching his thumbs into his belt loops so he can avoid continuing the handshake. "It's an Irish name, yeah, but maybe I don't seem like I'm Irish 'cause I'm a Texas boy." He ends up smirking a little as he looks over towards the fallen toolbox, shrugging once and offering a bit of a chuckle. "I'm not sure I wanna hear what the boss has been sayin' about me, neither."

___

Orion frowns slightly and shrugs, “Abbey didn’t say much, just that she knew a shifter named Murphy in the area. Well Murphy is a common name. It’s probably just a coincidence. Can your parents…Shift…” There’s the thump on the wall where the toolbox fell followed by a bit of noise out in the alley behind the shop. Orion looks toward the back door, shrugs, and continues speaking with Glen. “It’s possible we share a common ancestor.” A bit more sound out in the alley peaks Orion’s interest. “Maybe that’s Steele? You think he came back?” He heads toward the door. “Maybe I should go check it out, I’ll be right back.” The man opens the door, props it with a wrench, and disappears through the door.

___

The Texan watches Orion wandering off after spurting exposition and questions, somewhat befuddled by the man's rapid movement through the garage - but hey, if this "relative" is crazy, maybe that's some kind of familial link. Or something. He just ends up shaking his head a bit and turns back to his truck, giving one of its front tires a sullen kick and then immediately petting the vehicle like a cat, mumbling apologies. He may have some issues.

___

Orion’s voice can be heard in the alley calling out for Steele, but the voice grows a bit fainter after a couple minutes.

___

With the door propped open, it makes for an easy entrance point for someone without hands. If Glen is facing the door still, he may see the large male black wolf enter the garage. The animal pauses for a moment and sniffs the air before flattening its ears against its skull and stalking forward a bit. Ever since the Austin pack has diminished, this wolf has been wandering the land searching for any way to seek reparations. After having heard that this garage was owned by a werewolf, he decided this would be a good place to start. Unfortunately for the wolf, it seems the owner is not in at the moment. There is a shifter present, however. That works well enough to sate the wolf’s rage. He leaps forward toward Murphy, growling and gnashing his teeth. He intends to kill the shifter if he can, though he’ll settle for a good mauling if he can get away with it before that second man returns.

___

Poor, poor Murphy fails to notice the unfamiliar werewolf in good time. Mostly it's because he's preoccupied with his truck. The man smells like the shifter he is and does indeed make a fine and relatively helpless target for the murderous invader. The sound of blunt nails clicking on the concrete floor do finally clue him in before the fearsome snarling does, however, and he lifts his head out from under the hood just in time to catch a flash of black fur and angry yellow eyes and then — and then, oh lordy, there is a wolf trying to kill him. Glen straightens up and grabs the nearest weapons to him, which consist of a taco thrown at the wolf's face and then a wrench that he starts trying to beat the animal's skull in with, hollering for help at the top of his lungs. Of course, it doesn't help that he's quickly pinned up against the front of his truck, free arm up to protect himself. Which gets shredded by teeth accordingly, ruining his shirt in the process and ripping bloody furrows up and down his forearm. The blood flows freely and splatters across the floor, the wolf, and the man, and Murphy's shouting intermingles freely with unmanly shrieks of pain. And also lots of cursing. The cursing is very important.
___

The wolf growls and snarls as he tears into Murphy, not at all deterred by the taco and only temporarily knocked back by the wrench. The animal continues its assault, intending to kill the man.

___

After searching the back alley for Steele and finding nothing, Orion turns back to the door of the garage to go back inside. He stops as he sees a large black wolf darting into the open door. Assuming it must be the same wolf that has been causing so much trouble for the pack, Orion quickly disrobes and shifts into the Black Hound. He darts forward and scrambles into the garage, flattening his ears and growling at the other wolf. He charges forward and leaps at the other animal, tackling it to the ground and wrestling with it for a few moments before the other darts back out the door it came in through. The two wolves are in the same room together for only a few moments, depending on Glen’s state of mind he may not even have noticed that there were two in there at one point, and if he did he may be confused as to which animal is still in the room with him. Orion moves toward the injured man slowly, head lowered as he sniffs the blood spilled on the ground. The tussle with the other wolf has left this one smattered with the man’s blood.

___

Speaking of wolves.. The owner of the garage is making her way back home. After the issue with the vampire Abbey took the long way home not wanting the leech to follow her after all. Her side is throbbing, her natural ability to deal with pain is starting to wear off and she is wishing she brought the pain pills with her. As she is making her way towards the door she can amost swear she hears something with paws running and she pauses too glance around blinking a moment before shrugging. There are a few scents in the air, one she isn't sure on but others she knows at least so she relaxes. That is until the scent of fresh blood catches her attention and she is running into the garage. "Sam.." She is surprized at what she sees and blinks while looking at the black dog that she knows is Orion and then Murphy. "What the hell is going on in here?" She snaps out, a faint growl escaping her. Someone ripped into one of her workers in her garage, not a happy Abbey at the moment!

___

Oh hey, there is a big black animal coming back at Murphy, who is now seated squirming on the floor with his back to his truck, clutching his arm in pain. It's not like he's going to differentiate between Big Black Dog and Big Black Wolf at the moment, so the man quickly (but awkwardly) lunges forward with his wrench-wielding arm to try to get a quick blow in at Orion's nearest crunchy or squishy-soft body part.

___

Orion stops approaching the wounded man when Abbey appears. He looks up at her disheveled, panting, and dripping with blood. Well at least with Abbey here he can chase after that other wolf and not have to worry about Murphy. Abbey will be able to get him the medical help he needs. There is a clunk and a loud yelp as Murphy manages to crack Orion on the snout with the wrench. The sudden pain causes Orion’s feral mind to take over for a few moments. The hound snarls at Murphy and snaps at him a couple times before looking back at Abbey and darting out the back door. He’ll try to chase down the black wolf, but he won’t be able to catch him. Whoever goes into the back alley will find a pile of Orion’s clothes next to the back door to the garage.

___

Abbey eyes widen as she watches Murphy go to try and hit Orion. "Wait dammit!" She snaps out. Great.. This isn't how she wanted to end her night. Her gaze turns and follows after Orion. A soft sigh escapes her while she grabs hold of a clean worktowel and moves over to Murphy peering at him slightly. "What the hell were you two doing in here? Seeing who would win? I have enough damn stress in my life." She doesn't even think Orion would just up and attack someone after all, the thought never crossed her mind. "Let me see your damn arm." Doesn't she sound all worried?

___

It's satisfying, the way that the wrench gets such a pained reaction from the dog - a dog that Murphy perceives only as an attacker. As he sits there on the floor watching the dark-pelted beast make a getaway the thought not-so-briefly crosses his mind that the fallen taco would still be delicious, something that occupies his brain even while he hollers after the beast: "An' stay gone, y'damn varmint!" Yes, he called Orion a "varmint". And oh hey look it's the boss. Murphy lets the wrench thunk down in his lap, propping the head of it against his knee as he just… kinda sits there. And bleeds. "What d'you think we was doin', woman? We was talkin', and then I was bein' mauled!"

___

Abbey smirks while she kneels down and wraps the towel around Murphy's arm to try and stop the bleeding. "An what did you say to make hime maul you?" Because it is Murphy we're talking about after all. He makes her want to bite him every now and then. "I thought you was better fighter then this." This said with a teasing jab at the dear hurt worker.

___

"Wait, I-" A pause. "Wh-" Speechless. "Ho-" More speechlessness. "I didn't say nothin' to make no one attack me, woman! And a man can't fight back too well in all o' ten seconds!" It is really just not Murphy's night tonight, and he lets out quite a squallin' when the towel's downy goodness puts pressure on those nice fresh bite marks he's got all up and down his arm. In a phrase: whiny whiny bitch bitch. It happens.

___

Abbey hums faintly as she listens to Murphy while working on stopping the bleeding. "But.. I don't understand.." She starts and smirks at him squealing out. "Big baby.." Is muttered. She has BROKEN ribs and she didn't bitched this much. "Orion would just bite you without a reason.." Would he?.. There is a bit of unsureness in her mind, but still.. Its Orion..

___

Murphy tugs at his arm worriedly, trying to escape the ministrations of Abbey: Would-Be Nurse of Fail. "Hold on now, woman, I don't even know that boy, 'cept to say he's gonna get a hell of a whuppin' from me next time I see 'im." Said whuppin' will most likely involve guns. "—And I ain't a baby. I jus' got mauled, thank ya."

___

IS a good nurse.. Abbey is trying to stop the bleeding. "I know him that's all you got to worry about." She smirks at him. "An I have busted ribs and I didn't whine that much when I could hardly breath." This said with a faint tone while she ties the towel so its in place. "Come on.. let me get you to the hospital.. An can you not yell and scream about a black wolf biting you when we get there? I'll find out what happened and we can go from there alright?"

___

Bleeding, pfft. "Y'all know a crazy mechanic-eatin' monster, 's what you know." Getting all chewed up by a random attack may be becoming a sore spot for Murphy. He winces and whines a little more when the towel is on its way to being secured, the man soon pushing up to his feet all blood-spattered and glorious. "Sure. I'll tell 'em Steele done it."

___

Abbey moves to help Murphy up onto his feet. "Murphy.. I can't even find Steele.. An I don't want him to be euthanized thank you." She states with a shake of her head. "We're figure out something on the way there.." She pauses a moment. "I'm sorry I wasn't here to help you Murphy.." Really she can pick and tease at him, but she cares about him to a degree. They've worked together at the garage for a while now. "We can take my truck."
