Hotel Carmilla

Entering the lobby and public space at the Hotel Carmilla is much like stumbling into a Bohemian artist's studio. The vivid and operatic display of seemingly haphazard combinations of surreal contemporary and centuries-old furnishings create a style that is akin to stepping into a real life painting.
The walls and floors are metallic grey, with a large piece of metal art marking the center of the lobby. Support pillars of metal and wood give the entire area an arty look. At the very end of the area is a hand-carved 10' Italian fireplace in front of which is a lush, red velvet couch, while a custom Venetian glass chandelier hangs above.
So as not to detract from the extravagant view of the hotel, the front check in desk has been settled into the wall at the left side; enough to be seen but not enough to stand out against the otherwise breathtaking room. The wall behind the desk is a lush deep pink. A unique piece of art hangs behind it, and on either side of the security guards can be seen.

Its late afternoon, nearly evening from the looks of it. At the moment the lobby of the Carmilla looks a little bare of people, save for the desk clerk. Andra is settled behind the desk typing away at a computer, her clothing for the evening is a light blue blouse, black slacks and high heels, she has to look nice even if she is a desk clerk, it is a classy hotel after all.

—-

Bare of people usually means the hotel wouldn't mind a few more. And so, two enter, a tall man, and a small woman. Both of whom should be familiar faces to the young woman working at the front desk. Alex has a briefcase over his shoulder, and Mignonette has only herself. It seems her cousin is her packmule for the day. They make their slow, steady way through the lobby and towards Andra, Mignonette taking her time to look around the lobby, as if she were trying to find every little detail. "I love the look of the place. I think it will do nicely for a reception. I'm just hoping that not too many of our clients will be turned away by the clientele." She speaks softly, companionably to the man beside her as they make their final approach, though Mignonette waits for Andra to acknowledge her, out of respect, rather than bothering her while she's working.

—-

Andra gaze lifts as the door opens, a warm smile is offered to the pir as she stands up, smoothing her slacks out slightly in the process. "Hello Mrs. Savoy, Mr. Benoit. How can I help you this afternoon?" She questions while letting her hands rest upon the counter before her. Her gaze looks to Mignonette though. "How are you feeling?" Well of course she knew what happened, everyone would have by now.

—-

Alex offers his usual charming smile, "Afternoon, Ms. Smith, always a pleasure to see you. Take care of her would you?" The man sets the briefcase down on the front counter in easy reach of Mignonette, "I'll be just over there." A nod to Andra, a kiss to the top of his cousin's head and he moves off into the lobby, casual and easy. Mignonette, for her part, only nudges the man on his way, before she answers, "I'm doing well, much better, thank you. I'm sorry that I haven't been in the office." But who can blame her, "That's part of what I wanted to talk to you about. I need to arrange for you to pick up some of your courier work at the house." She pauses now, but doesn't continue to explaining the other part, except to say, "Are you free for a few minutes?"

—-

Andra smiles to Alex and nods. "Of course." She offers happly before turning her gaze back to Mignonette. "That's not a problem.. I understand why you wouldn't be at the office after all." She tilts her head, a soft oh escaping her. "Sure, I have no problem coming back to pick up anything. Just give me a call when you have anything ready, alright?" A nod is seen. "Sure. Would you like to sit down?" This is questioned as she turns to get a chair to take it around the counter for Mignonette before the other can answer the question.

—-

"I'll call when I need, and I have a few depositions that I need to have delivered to court. Desiree has been conference calling them to me. And we need to pick up the pace on the Winters domestic, so I might have you focus on that for most of the next week." What a headache that civil suit has been, and Andra has become one of the most dependable, and let's face it, level-headed go betweens for the company. "But more than the work at the firm, I wanted to talk to you about the possibility of renting out the hotel for the reception, or at least the floor here, or the reception hall, if you have one."

—-

Andra sets the chair down next to Mignonette before moving back around the counter and nods as she lisitons. "Of course.. That's not a problem at all." She may be young but she's loyal and knows how to get the job done at least., which when it comes to delivering things its not that hard. A warm smile is seen. "We have a reception room that you can rent out. We use it every now and then." This is said while she gets out a date planner for the room and flips it open while picking up a pen. "What day or night are you interested in Miss. Savoy?"

—-

"Thank you for the chair, Andra." She appreciates the kindness, and the smile she offers, supplemented by her words indicate that it is indeed genuine. She takes her time settling, sitting forward on the chair, in a position that looks slightly uncomfortable, but spares her back from touching the backrest, "I was thinking a Thursday or Friday evening, friday more likely. People do more drinking on fridays, don't they?" Not being much of a drinker herself, she goes by what she sees, "It would be for about 150 to 200 people, if we're lucky. Clients and potential clients and employees. I love the look of the lobby, would we be allowed to let the party spill out here?"

—-

"Its not a problem at all." Andra offers to the pair about the chair. She listions to Mig while looking over the date book for the day in question. "Many tend to drink more on Friday's because they get the weekend off.. So yes." A glance is offered back to the other and she nods with a smile. "Sure.. We can set up what ever you like. An that amount of people won't be a problem in mind. Now, how soon did you want to do this.. I imagen when your feeling better?"

—-

"Yes, when I'm better, or at least when my stitches are out and I can move more easily. I need to be able to mingle with the guests. I thought about having the reception at the Belmont," Mignonette offers, not as a way of trying to get Andra to push for her place of business, but for simple edification, "But while the hotel itself is nice…the neighbourhood is not suitable. I'm considering the Carmilla for two reasons. First, because it's a beautiful location, and second, because it might make it easier for the vampire community to get to know us." Andra would know the office has no vampire clients at the moment, but there's always room for business.

—-

Andra nods at this. "When do you think your be able to get the stiches out? So I can at least write something in the book to make sure you can get the room and so forth." She offers while looking back to Mig, a soft ah escaping her. "Well.. I get the feeling that if you did have it here just about anyone may show.." Meaning between vampires and humans that is.

—-

"Doctors say about another week or so. But the wounds will still be tender. I'd like to have the reception is about a month, if you can squeeze us in. We can provide out own catering, of course." I mean, this is a vampire hotel, after all. "That's what I'm hoping for. We have individual invitations going out, but walk-ins, as it were, would be more than welcome. And a reception might be the best way to get the word out about the business, especially to the vampire community."

—-

Andra smiles and nods while she flips to the next month and looks over the dates. "It shouldn't be a problem.. How about the third friday of April?" This is questioned while tapping her pen against the counter a moment. A nod is seen. "I'm sure it would get more attention out there for the vampire community as well."

—-

"Well, we can always hope." Not that Mignonette is a particular fan, but, hey, they're people now too. "Is there anyway that I could get to look in on the hall, and get an idea of what is where and where we can put the band or the bar?" Mignonette takes a moment, shifting herself on the chair to be a bit more comfortable, "I'd prefer if you went with me, if there was some way we could do that." Though there doesn't seem to be another desk clerk on duty.

—-

Andra hums softly and ohs before nodding. "I can show you the room, its part of my job after all. I can take a walkie-talkie with me that lets me know when the door opens." This said while picking up the device. "Its not that far so it will be alright." She says while making her way around the counter once more. "We can have them set up where ever you like. It might be better if you actually see the room first though before figuring that out."

—-

Mignonette offers a thankful smile, as she rises from the chair, pushing it to the side so she doesn't block any guests, potential or otherwise. Truth be told, even if the attack on her had nothing to do with this place, she'd still rather have someone she knows show her around, "I'd like that. I might need to take a few pictures as well. My mother is insisting she help with the preparations. But she isn't free to come up right now, so I've been doing it all long-distance."

—-

Andra smiles and nods while she waits for Mignonette to stand up and then turns to walk towards a hallway that is near the coutyard doors. "Of course.. Do you have a camera? If not I can bring mine from home and get some pictures and send them to you via email."

—-

"No, I brought one with me. It's in the briefcase." Which she takes a moment to pick up and sling over a shoulder, before she moves to follow, her pace slower than usual, but still smooth. Training always wins out. "Let me just get it now," which she does, before she continues on. "We'll also be bringing in-house security, if that's not going to be a problem. I don't know if you offer any yourself, but I'd prefer to be the one responsible for the safety of my guests."

—-

Andra follows at a slow pace, not wanting to race Mignonette after all. She nods as she listions while they continue down the hall. "I see.. An of course. I will let my manger and boss know. We also have security here with the Hotel, but if you like they wil stay out of the room and stay in the main part of the hotel."

—-

"My main concern, with my guests is, well, I'll be frank. My guests will not be here as part of the menu. While I have tried to be as respectful as I can of the ways and biology of the vampire community, I am certain for every decent vampire I will meet, I will meet one who isn't." Mignonette allows the younger woman to lead her, looking down between steps to make sure all of the settings are right on the camera. But she won't take any actual pictures until Andra gives her the okay.

—-

Andra ahs softly and nods. "No on in the Hotel is harmed.. At least not to my knowledge. Still I understand how you feel and I will pass on the concern to my manager and boss. They will make it known that no vampire is to harm anyone at the reception of course." They make there way into the room, and she pauses long enough to take out a set of keys and opens the door. Andy moves in first and flicks on the lights with snap on without a problem. "Please, come in Miss. Savoy." The room is large, there are several tables and chairs already set up for another meeting that took place or will be going on. There are several set of double doors on either side of the room as well.

—-

Mignonette pauses, waiting patiently as the doors are open. Only once she's inside, does she move to take any pictures, and she takes pictures only of the room itself, "I would appreciate that. I hope they won't take that amiss, I honestly don't mean to be offensive, but I hope they will understand the element of uncertainty in the situation." Snap, another, another, before she lowers the camera, "Where do those double doors lead, if I may ask?"

—-

"Your not being offensive at all Miss. Savoy." Andra offers while she glances over the room and then back to her boss. Its strange speaking with her like this, especially while working at her other job after all. "The doors on the other side leads to another hallway. The doors can be kept closed though but will be left unlocked on the inside incase of a fire of course. The ones on this side lead back into the hallway we was just in and there is the coutyard on the otherside of this hallway as well."

—-

"You can call me Mignonette, or Coco, Andra, you don't need to stay to formality, unless the particular circumstance requires it, which this one doesn't." She moves slowly through the room, taking pictures of as many angles as she can, before she looks back to you, "May I see the courtyard as well? if you wouldn't mind?" She lowers the camera, easing some of the tension in her back and her expression. It's not easy to move your arms and keep your back still.

—-

Andra blinks slightly and ohs a moment, she seems a bit unsure about calling the other by her first name though. She's be taught to show respect by her grandparents to anyone older then her after all. Andy clears her throat and nods slightly. "Alright.. An yes we can go see it. Not a problem." This said while she makes her way back through the door they just came through and moves towards the coutyard. The doors are made of glass and she opens one holding it open for Mig. As for the courtyard it is a large open space with many trees and bushes. A few benches and picnic tables can been seen.

—-

Mignonette allows the young woman to make her own choice about how she chooses to address her, evidenced by the fact that she makes no further mention of it, as she follows her out into the courtyard. "Would this be available as well?" She looks appreciative of the courtyard and it's design, though she seems to err on staying closer to the light, and further away from where the dusk is deepening into full dark. "This might be nice for some quieter conversations."

—-

Andra nods to Migonette. "Sure.. I can write it all down and my manager will call you for the final details and the like. She handles all the paper work I make write it up and the like." Seems she hasn't figured out how she'll be calling Migonette at the moment.

—-

"That would be lovely. I've no doubt we'll be able to come to an agreement on the rental fees and the other points of consideration. So I will wait for her call." Mignonette takes a moment, to replace the camera in her bag, after she takes a few pictures of the courtyard. She shifts the briefcase from her left shoulder to her right, to more easily redistribute the strain, "Thank you so much for being willing to take the time for me, Andra. I really do appreciate it. And I hope the hotel won't see this as a conflict of interest." Likely they won't, after all, they're the ones looking to get business.

—-

Andra offers a warm smile to Mignonette and nods. "Its not a problem at all Mignonette." She offers with a friendly tone. "An I don't think they will have a problem with it.. After all its bringing some business to the hotel of course." She waits for Mig to enter back into the building before she follows after her.

—-

Mignonette takes a moment, to make certain she has what she needs, more of a mental inventory than anything else, though she speaks softly, half to herself, "Reception hall, courtyard, lobby." A nod, before she turns back to her companion, "I will hope for the best then. And try to deflect the worst. I've gotten used to that." A spot of laughter, before she starts back towards the door to the hall, "Thank you for allowing me a chance to look around, Andra. I think the hotel will do quite nicely for the reception, if things work out."

—-

Andra offers a warm smile to Mignonette as they make there way back to the lobby. Another nod is seen. "Sure.. Not a problem. I didn't mind showing you the place. Its part of the job and I enjoy showing the place off." This said with a happy tone. Once in the lobby she pauses next to the counter, the walkie-talkie is set on the counter. A soft chuckle escapes her. "I'm sure it will be fine."

—-

As soon as Mignonette and Andra return down the corridor, or soon after, Alexandre starts to make his way back towards the pair. Apparently he's finished with his sightseeing. "Well, I still appreciate it. Of course, if there's anything I can ever do for you, for work or other wise, I hope you know you can come to me." The taller man takes the briefcase as it's handed off to him, and Mignonette continues, "I had better try to be getting back home. "Or me." That from her cousin. After all, his job is security, and that makes Andra part of his job, now that she's come to work for the firm.

—-

Andra glances to Alex and offers him a smile as well before she looks back to Mignonette and nods. "Thank you, thank you both. Its nice to know." She offers with a happy tone. After all other then Austin and Jamal she doesn't have many friends in the city. "I hope you both have a good night. If you have any questions let me know and i'll pass it on to Laura."

—-

"The offer is always on the table. No matter what it is you might need." Mignonette reaches over, to touch Alex's arm, and, well-bred as he is, despite his time in service, his arm crooks so she can rest her hand in the crook of his elbow, "Thank you again, Andra. I'll see you at the house tomorrow. Desiree will likely have a few things for you to bring over." A final smile, before she moves to depart, "Good night, Andra. enjoy the rest of your evening."

—-

Andra lifts a hand and waves to them both. "Thanks, an I will remmeber it. It means a lot." She offers softly. "I'll come over early so I can get started and have it all taken of before the day is over."

—-

"I'm sure that you will, Andra. You've been a godsend to the office since you came on board." And with that, the pair move to depart the hotel, slow and steady, and perhaps a but tiredly, at least on Mignonette's part. But it was a good night, and the reception is one step closer to being arranged, so that will keep her mother happy.
