The Wolf and the Hound

Bunker's Garage and Salvage

Bunkers's Garage and Salvage sits on a rather large lot in the West Dallas neighborhood. The parking lot is small, and one spot is occupied at all times by a beat-up tow truck. Two fully equipped bays, complete with safety notices on the walls are for employees only. To the right side of the bays is an office, containing a simple desk with a grubby looking computer, and a filing cabinet. Behind the desk is a small whiteboard which lists inspection prices, and those for other services. The walls are decorated with a few small display cases where items available for sale are located.

With Hyde finshing working on a car Abbey is pretty much on her own. At the moment she is sitting in a chair near a work bench a few part books pilled up next to her with one open in her lap as she looks through it while working on making a order. Well she has to do something, if she sits around like a bump on a log to long she is going to lose her mind. A burning cigarette rests between her lips, a pen and paper upon a the open book while she busily writes down a few things that need to be ordered. Two other cars can be found within the garage, Sam is working on a Jeep down in the last ban. A few other works are busy along with a owner found witing in the lobby for there car as well.

—-

Mignonette, for her part, as been trying to be out and about as much as she can, keeping active and living as normally as life and current circumstances will allow. At the present, she's in the passenger seat of one of the company cars, one of the security team driving her, Alex not in evidence, a rarity these days. The car pulls up to the front of the garage, a little off to the side so as not to block the work bays, and the woman opens out the door, moving slowly and carefully out of the custom designed backrest that allows her to sit normally, but not rub her back against anything. Once the door is closed, she starts off towards the shop itself, joining the other customer waiting for their turn with the staff.

—-

The sound of another car pulling up catches Abbey's attention and she lifts her head to peer over and see who it might be. She blinks while watches Mignonette enter into the lobby and is suddenly not to sure what to do. The last time she saw Mignonette was when she was in her wolf form trying to protect her from Sean after all. A slight glance is offered around, and as everyone else is busy she doesn't seem to have a choice in the matter. The book on her lap is closed and settled upon another chair at her side so she doesn't have to lean and put it on the ground. Standing she makes her way towards the lobby. "Mr. Smith your Jeep will be ready soon. Sorry its taking so long." A friendly smile is offered to the older man before her pale gaze slips over to Mignonette. "Afternoon Mignonette.. How you doing?" The attack was all over the news after all. Abs movements are a bit slower and more cautious then normal.

—-

Well, they're like two peas in a pod, because as slow as Abbey is moving, so is Mignonette, as she makes the effort to hold herself as rigidly as she can from waist to shoulder. But the sight of a friendly face seems to cheer her, "Abbey, it's good to see you. I'm doing alright, thank you, healing, getting my stitches out in a few days, I hope." Likely a bit longer than a few, but eh. Let the girl dream. "Your shop certainly seems to doing well, "I just came to see how Alex's bike was coming along." She might or might not note the manner in which Abbey is moving, but for the time being, she seems to have decided not to make mention of it.

—-

Mr. Smith smiles and nods to Abbey not looking to worried about it being a bit longer. Abbey lets her attenion rest on Mignonette and she nods, a soft smile seen. "That's good to hear.. i'm glad you got out of that whole mess without being to badly hurt." A soft ahe scapes her at the talk about the bike. Oh sure.. She's had plenty of time to work on it. "Truthfully I haven't had the time lately to work on it." There's a pause. "I'm sorry Mignonette." She takes in a slight breath. "I should be able to get back to working on it next week.." She hopes at least.

—-

Mignonette offers a shake of her head, a rising of her hand as she waves off the apology, though she does move to settle onto one of the chairs set out for clients, using her hands on the armrests to support most of her weight, "I was very, very fortunate. The lacerations are not as bad as they could have been, and the doctors assure me that the can manage the scarring. I'm just glad that I wasn't alone that night." Cautious as ever, about what she does and doesn't say about the evening.

—-

"Nothing wrong with a few scars." Abbey offers with an amused tone, her forearms have a fair share of them after all, and the tattoos. Sam comes in to get Mr. Smith and the two go out to talk about the Jeep. A slight nod is seen to Mignonette. "I'am glad you wasn't either.. Must have been a scarey thing to deal with still."

—-

"That's exactly what I said to Sean, when he came to see me. Might make me look sort of tough." A flash of a smile, before her expression sobers, "It was. I mean, I've heard of people getting randomly attacked by wild animals, but this was…I mean, it's different when it -happens- to you, and you're not just watching it on the Discovery Channel or Animal Planet."

—-

Abbey ponders who Sean is, not that she is about to ask at the moment. A soft smile is seen and she nods. "True.. It is a rare thing indeed.." She offers softly, her side throbbing and so she moves over to sit herself down upon a chair as well, careful as she does so. It hurts to say the least. "Everything is different when it actually manages to happen to you I've found."

—-

Mignonette waits for Abbey to take her seat, even offering a hand to help, if she needs, though in both of their conditions, it's a bit like the blind leading the blind, "I just hope that they're able to find the animal that did this and find a way to prevent it from hurting anyone else." And despite the fact that she is the victim, she doesn't sound particularly vengeful, "I mean, perhaps we're partially to blame, our cities keep getting larger and larger, pushing into the territories of wild things. What do we really expect is going to happen when we invade their spaces?"

—-

Abbey waves the hand off, now that she's sitting down she can relax at least. "Well.. if they find it there kill it.. It attacked a person after all. All the public thinks about is destorying things that are only doing what they are born to do." Well Sean was turned into a monster and his a killer after all. "That's true.. Animals only act out because we haven't given them enough places to live. Its terrible.."

—-

Migonette nods, in obvious agreement, "You see it happen all of the time back home. Especially as Baton Rouge has been growing and expanding. Housing developments everywhere, some right up to the bayous and then people complain when gators attack their pets or even them, but they're only doing what they've always done; protect their territory. "I've been thinking about getting a dog," A slight segue, but one nonetheless.

—-

Abbey nods slightly while closing her eyes. "Ya.. that's true." She offers quietly. At the talk of getting a dog she isn't to sure what to say. Since losing Steele Abs hasn't even spoke about dogs in general.. But she does miss her dog badly. "Dogs are not a bad idea.. As long its not a chichula.."

—-

"I just…to have something to keep me company. To run with me, and be with me in the house and when I go outside." Her voice softens, for a moment, and it's one of the few indications of how badly the attack has frightened her. "I don't want to be afraid to go out of my own house after dark. To walk out of the office and not feel safe to walk down the street." A beat, and then, "There were two dogs there that night, you know, they helped to frighten whatever it was that attacked me off."

—-

Abbey is quiet as she listions to the other, her gaze drifting towards the window as she's lost in thought, thinking about Steele most likely. She swallows a moment and nods. "Ya.." Is offered before she glances towards Mig, about to say she is NOT a dog.. But she catches herself. "Really?.. Well, dogs are a man's best friend after all.."

—-

"Whomever first created that quote could not have been closer to the truth. I mean, they didn't even know me, at least, I didn't know them. Never even saw them before, but they must have heard me. Or heard the commotion and they just came over." Mignonette herself, is lost in her own thoughts, "A big grand mastiff and a collie, but a big one, not small, like Lassie, but just that same colour. I think they were the only reason Mr. Marcos and I managed to get away."

—-

Abbey chuckles softly at this and nods. "True.." She offers softly. Steele saved her a few times after all. A brow lifts and she just blinks while peering at Mignonette, as if curious of the story though in the back of her mind she is screaming. I'm not a damn COLLIE! "I'm.. Surprize a collie would do that.."

—-

"Are they not usually aggressive?" Mignonette actually seems genuinely curious, on that point, "I've never had a dog in my life, and I haven't had much contact with them, except when I would visit family. But most of the dogs my family seems to have are small, almost indoor dogs. Pekingese's and terriers and little dogs like that. I did have a guinea pig growing up, but that's as close to having a funny creature in the house as I ever was allowed." Again, Mignonette segues, this time away from discussion of dogs, completely oblivious to poor Abbey's horrified inner monologue.

—-

Abbey is doing her best to keep herself some having a hissy fit.. She's always been very proud of her wolfself after all. While Mignonette talks Abs chews on her lip to keep herself in line. "Collies are like herding dogs.. I guess they could be aggressive but none that I ever knew would be. Had a lot of them in Ireland, along with Irish Setters.." A faint smirk is seen. "A guinea pig.. I didn't see you as the type."

—-

"Then I was particularly lucky." She may still be on painkillers, but she is trying to make an effort to move away from talking about the incident, as much for her comfort as Abbey's. Mignonette's expression softens, and laughter comes to her lips, as she seems to focus on the memory of her childhood pet, "His name was Mortimer. He was pure white with a little orange butt. I used to try to sneak him with me to my tutoring sessions, in my backpack."

—-

Abbey smirks faintly before nodding. "I suppose so.." Is said with a soft tone while she sinks down into the chair, her arms settled upon the armrest of the chair. "I bet that was an amusing site to have.. Must have been interesting to have him peaking outa your bag an all." A slight cough escapes her before she closes her eyes. Maybe she did over do it today, not that she is actually sitting in a comfortable chair she seems to feel it more-so.

—-

"My mother usually found him. Got to the point where she would check my bag before I got into the car. I used to have to try to sneak him out other ways. Thankfully, Filipe never said anything to her, even after all the years he would drive me to my classes. Even if it must have driven him crazy, having to try to hunt down a little rodent hiding in the car." Mignonette's eyes open, and her eyes turn to Abbey, "You coming down with a cold, Abbey? The flu seems to be going around, Sean had it just a few days ago. Perhaps you should go get some rest, I can have some chicken soup sent around for you."

—-

Abbey smiles softly as she hears the talk of the little rodent. "I imagen it was interesting to try and find him in the car." This said with a soft tone, a faint ah escapes her. "Perhaps.. My side is bugging me some. Suppose I worked to much." Her side is throbbing with pain actually. "Its alright.. I'll be fine after I get some sleep."

—-

Perhaps fortunately for Abbey, Mignonette seems to chalk her new injuries up to having aggravated her old injuries. Easy to do when you didn't know what they really were in the first place. "You'll never heal if you keep working as hard as you do, Abbey." Again, Mignonette's hands leverage her out of her seat, and she comes to her feet slowly but surely, "The business will still be here after you've healed, but it won't be here at all if you're not." She does offer a friendly smile, concern evident in her expression, "I'll let you go and get some rest. I would feel terrible if you got sick on my account."

—-

Abbey lifts her head to watches Mignonette, a soft smile seen. "I know.." Is said softly. "But.. I don't have much else in my life at the moment. Sorta hard to sit back and do nothing." This said with a slight shake of her head. Most at her age are off at parties, or in school after all. "Don't worry about it.. I'll be fine. You just take care of yourself alright?" "If your really interested in a dog let me know.. I know some good rescue groups and breeders in the area."

—-

"I think we're in the same boat there, so I can understand completely. The firm is my life. Morning to night. gets to where you can't even imagine having a life outside of work. But we'll have to see if we can't change that a bit, for both of our sakes, or I have a feeling we'll both end up dead on our feet." That same friendly reassuring smile, "I will, but you do the same. Once we're both feeling better, I'll see about that advice. Because I really am." She steps back, and moves to depart the office and head to the car still waiting for her, "Take care of yourself, Abbey. If you need anything, you have my number."

—-

Abbey tilts her head and nods to the other. "Two peas in a pod huh?" She offers with a faint chuckle escapes her. "Sounds like a plan." This said with a slight smile seen. "You take care of yourself as well. An I'll talk to you in a few days."
