Savoy House
Warm, elegant and inviting is the lasting impression of this house. Ranch-style, the exterior of the house is contemporary mediterranean, soft cream with a muted forest green roof and matching shutters at each window. The interior design of the house is predominantly rustic italian, the walls warm rich shades of cream, blue, brown and a faded rust red. The artwork is natural and simple, mirroring the earthy shades of the house and furniture. Low half walls separate the open area of the main house into individual 'rooms'. Deep, plush area rugs are set here and there to warm the chill from the italian tiled floor. From the entry, the house opens out into a library to the right, opposite a dining room to the left. Just past the dining room is a comfortable kitchen, and filling the rest of the space is a well appointed living room area. Past the dining room, a short hall leads on one side to a two car garage and on the other to the master bedroom. Past the living room on the right are three additional bedrooms, one guest room, one transformed into an artist's studio and one converted into a home office. A bathroom sits between the guest bedroom and the studio. French doors just past the living room lead out to a large enclosed patio and pool area, complete with an outdoor grille and kitchen. Beyond the patio is an large, well manicured yard, surrounded by natural wood privacy fencing.
Mignonette is home early from work today, having turned most everything over to her staff. One of the few perks, one would imagine, in her job. What's not a perk? Scrubbing the bathroom. But it's made better by the zydeco music playing through the house, and the windows all open to let the spring breeze, and the woman humming along to the music, and trust me, compared to her singing, her humming is first rate, as she scrubs at the tub in the master bath.

Abbey had never actually visited Migs at home before, yet here she is coming to see how the lawyer is doing after everything that's happened to her. She carries with her a bakery type box in a hand while sticking the keys of her mustang into a pocket. Seems she has the car up and running, and its looking rather nice with the new top notch paint job. The music is picked up while she moves on up to the door, a glance offered around before she rings the bell. Her clothing just a simple tshirt, jeans and her work boots.
—-
It takes a few minutes, before the faint, 'Just a minute!' is answered by Migs getting to the door, and after peeking through the peephole to see who it is, opening out the door. She's dressed in shorts, and a tank top, with a pair of yellow rubber cleaning gloves on her hands, and a bandana tied up around her head to hold back her hair, which would totally look very you know 'thug' or 'gangster', except, well, this is Migs, so it really only looks sort of country bumpkin. "Hey Abbey! I didn't expect to see you today, come in!"
—-
Abbey looks rather amused as she sees Migs dressed how she is, well this is a first. "Hey.. Just stopped by for a short visit to see how you doing." She offers while moving on into the home, a glance offered over the area before she turns her pale gaze back to Migs. "Brought cheesecake." She says while holding the box up with a smile.
—-
Mignonette's eyes light up at the word 'cheesecake' and she gives you time to step in, before she closes the door behind you, "Come on in, let me just take my gloves off and wash my hands." Which she sets off to do, heading towards the kitchen, "Thank you so much for the cheesecake, it's my favourite. And I'm doing pretty alright. oh, Kirill's in the backyard, Alex is there, but I think he's sleeping in the hammock." She strips off the gloves, tossing then on the edge of the double sink, before she goes to scrub off the powder from inside and the cleaning stuff from her hands, "How've you been doing, though?"
—-
Abbey chuckles as she catches sight of how the other looks, a smile offered as she follows her towards the kitchen. "Kirill?.." She questions curiously. Seems Abs doesn't know about the new canine in Mig's life. "Been doing alright. Was able to get back to working, though I take time off to go an do things seeing how Sam is there." She sets the box down upon a counter. "Have a new puppy so his taking up a lot of time cause I have to train him an so forth."
—-
"Oh! You haven't met Kirill, yet. Let me go get him." Migs moves out of the kitchen, and back to the patio, sliding the door open, and moving to the screen door, "Kirill, come!" A big white lump gets itself up from under the hammock, where he seems to have been using the hammock, and its sleeping occupant as a sunblock, and pads in, heading right for the house, and the new person he can smell. He pauses, perhaps four or five feet away, sniffing hard, trying to identify the smell, which is new, because it's a girl, but not new, because he's smelled that not-so humany smell before on quite a few of Migs' houseguests. "Kirill, you be nice, this is Abbey, and she brought us cheesecake." Finally, the akita chuffs, and heads over towards the woman in question. Nosing the box, before he sits down on his haunches, focused attentively on the redhead.
You say, "You got a new puppy, that's wonderful, and that you're getting out more, what's he like?"
—-
Abbey watches Migs curiously and tilts her head as she looks to the door watching the akita move inside. "Hello there handsome." She offers while lowering a hand to see if Kirill wants to sniff. "His cute Mignonette." A soft chuckle escapes her. "Dakota is a handful.. His a Tibetian Mastiff, already huge and his only about five months old. His keeping me on my toes to say the least. Haven't had a puppy around the garage for a while so his getting into everything of course."
—-
"I hope he hasn't gotten locked in any trunks yet." Mignonette busies herself with getting out some plates and forks, setting everything up on the pub table, and Kirill busies himself with trying to get the cheesecake, which includes licking fingers, and trying to rub himself along Abbey's leg. It's a very cat-like, marking thing to do, as it's unlikely he can't smell the other dog, puppy or no, but it is what it is. "I've never heard of that particular breed before, but i've heard of Mastiffs, and they're huge, I think, right? Some are like, almost 200 pounds? Once everything's set up, she heads back into the kitchen, "You want some coffee?"
—-
Abbey chuckles softly at Kirill and moves to scratch and rub across his head a few times. "Ya, the English mastiffs are huge.. the Tibetan can be big, but I'm hoping not that big. There not a well known breed, had a friend that knows a breeder a few hours away and she had a pup left so I went to look at him. Couldn't say no." This said with an amused tone. "Sure, coffee sounds great."
—-
"Well, just take a seat and get comfortable, I'm sure Kirill won't mind. He loves having company over." Which he certainly seems to. Migs heads back to the kitchen, and rather than use the press, she heads to one of those new fangled coffee brewing things with the little cup/pod that you put in, and it makes one cup per pod. Setting to work to make two, she looks back towards you, "Well, it sounds like it was a good ending for both of you. You'll have to bring him over, he and Kirill could play together. So…getting out more? Anything in particular?"
—-
Abbey nods while she moves and sits down upon a free seat. Her pale gaze watching Kirill a few moments, some dogs like her some dogs don't so she's always wary of new ones. "Sure.. I would have problem him but I'm not going to be able to stay that long. Sam has to take off soon and I told him I'd come back and finish stuff." She shrugs slightly. "Just getting out and walking.. Helps clear my head most of the time."
—-
"Things slowed down at the garage at all, or you still have everyone in Dallas coming in?" Migs carries over the coffees setting them down before she makes a final trip to the fridge to get out cream, and to the cupboard for sugar. Finally, she settles into the seat across from you, and being, as unashamed of herself as always, she goes to open and serve the cheesecake, "Well, you know my schedule. So you can bring him over whenever. And you can always call, just to make sure." She makes one of the cups up as she likes it, but she at least waits for you before she digs into the dessert. Progress.
—-
Abbey chuckles softly and picks up the cup, just plain coffee seems to suit her fine. "Ya.. We have are busy as heck days and then quiet days. I've been able to start working on the motorcycle. Got it all apart and have the frame of it cleaned up. The frame isn't bad, the rest of it though could use an act of god." She smirks slightly before sipping at the coffee. "But I got a hold of parts for it, original ones at that. A friend out on the west coast had a bunch we struck up a deal."
—-
"Well, make sure you add it to the bill, I'll handle any sort of shipping or charges or whatever." At the mention of the bike, she does glance back outside, to the dozing giftee, unawares still, oblivious to the events going on in the house. Migs finally digs into the cheesecake. "I'm sure God's on your side." And then, to the good stuff, "So…walking. Just by yourself?"
—-
Abbey waves a hand slightly. "Don't worry.. Really. Its not that much. I do this stuff all the time. An trust me your going to get change we needs to be charged." She says with a smirk, the bike is rather expensive to say the least, but it'll be worth it when the bike is done. She hums softly while glancing to the cheesecake while holding onto her cup. "Ya.. Other then taking Dakota with me now and then, but he still growing so I don't like putting a lot of stress on him." She shrugs slightly. "Called Brian a few times, guess his busy. Though I got him to go to the fair that was nice."
—-
"Good. Because I don't want you giving me any discounts just because we happen to be friends." As something of a business owner, sort of, herself, she knows how important having money come in to the shop is, "You should totally have a slice, it's fabulous. "You should get yourself a nice walking partner. makes it more enjoyable." Laughter, at the comment on Brian, "You know, he mentioned that you took him to the fair. Said he won you a little panda, and ate his weight in cotton candy."
—-
"Naw.. I already give people a good discount.. Can't give anymore then I do." Abbey offers while she picks up a plate and goes about getting a piece of the cake, which she takes a bites from once getting a hold of a fork. A soft chuckle escapes her. "Ya he did.. It was fun I have to admit."
—-
"I took a cake over to him at the Dispatch, to sort of celebrate his new job. I don't envy him the staff he has to work with. But at least I know he's getting out of there regularly." Mignonette purses her lips, considering, before she remains silent and goes back to her cheesecake.
—-
Abbey smiles and nods. "Ya.. I think he has a ways to go with dealing with 'em. He'll figure it out though." Her pale gaze rests on the other, an she picks up on the fact that Migs may have been about to say something else. "So.. How you feeling?"
—-
"Oh, physically, I'm fine. I mean, my stitches are out, the wounds are almost healed, and there's nothing wrong, not like that. But I've been having really bad nightmares, especially since the park." Mignonette takes a sip of coffee, before she continues on, "I've been thinking about going to see someone. Try to find some way to manage…I don't want to be so afraid all of the time."
—-
Abbey hums and nods as she listens to her friend. "Well.. That might be a good idea." This said with a soft, yet friendly tone. "I mean.. I can understand why you would be afraid though.."
—-
"I just don't understand why they can't find whatever is doing this to people. But even if they could, whatever attacked me is not what I saw in the park, and I still almost had a nervous breakdown when I saw those things coming for me." Migs pauses, looking back up to the woman, "Brian asked me out to dinner. I told him I'd pick a night, but…I don't want…he shouldn't have to deal with someone so mental."
—-
Abbey nods slightly. "It would be nice if they did catch it.." She offers softly while listening to her friend. There's a blink at the talk of her and Brian having a date and she's quiet for a few moments, thinking on what to say perhaps. "There's nothing wrong with you Mignonette.. Everyone goes through some hard times." She smiles a moment. "An trust me.. I'm more mental then you are."
—-
"You didn't run screaming at the sight of some dogs off their leashes and a coyote or fox or whatever running through the park." Okay, so maybe she didn't scream, but it was a close thing, "I had to cancel my teaching at the rec center, I can't even stand the thought of going back there, so close to the forest. And they were counting on me."
—-
Abbey hums faintly at that. "True.. But that doesn't mean anything." She points out. "You had a life changing experience Mignonette.. Don't beat yourself up over it so much."
—-
"Believe me, I'm trying, but it hasn't been easy." Mignonette sets aside her coffee and her cheesecake, sliding off of the chair, and settling onto the floor, Kirill coming over from where he's been sitting eyeing the box. It's comical, in some small way, to see the dog, who outweighs his owner by a few pounds, butt up against her, and the woman reach forward to hug his neck, burying her face in his fur. "I've been taking him into the office, even." Migs offers, slightly muffled.
—-
Abbey sets her plate down and picks up the coffee which she sips at once more. "Your be able to overcome this.. It may just take time Migs." This said with a soft tone while she watches her friend, wishing she could help her out more then this.
—-
Migs finally looks up from Kirill's neck, having to look around him, being as how he spends most of his time looking like a the white fluffy end of a q-tip, "Thank you for believing in me, Abbey. And for getting me home that night. I probably would have killed myself, if I'd tried to drive. How did you even get back to your car?"
—-
Abbey offers a soft smile. "Nothing to thank me for.. Its what friends are for." She says softly. A faint ah escapes her. "I walked back to the park, got my car and came home. Wasn't that far of a walk really."
—-
"It's more than a few blocks, you should have got a cab and sent the bill to my office, i would have paid for that." Kirill noses at Migs' chest and she sighs, "You're even more of a fat*** than I am, you big lump." She finally extricates herself from the dog and goes to retrieve her cake, which only had a bite or two left, before she moves to offer it to the dog. "Won't hurt him, will it, you don't think?" Abbey's the one with dog experience, right?
—-
Abbey chuckles softly and smiles. "I don't mind walking. Keeps me in shape." She says with an amused tone, as if she really needed to try. "Naw its fine. Just not chocolate or grapes."
—-
"Okay," Migs, having the okay from Abbey, proceeds to feed Kirill the last of her cheesecake, the dog actually eating quite well from the fork, oddly enough. And then she goes to get a new plate and fork from the cabinet for herself, sliding back onto the seat and getting another slice, "I like to swim. I can't wait to get back into the pool."
—-
Abbey chuckles softly as she watches the dog eat the cheesecake, its rather amusing. "His cute I have to say." This said while she nods to Migs. "Well that's good.. Swimming is good for you after all." She ponders. "I haven't been swimming in a while now.."
—-
"Well, you're welcome to use the pool here whenever you want. I mean, it's just me at home most of the time, unless Alex is over, or James. I could give you the spare key." Now that Kirill is seen to, Mignonette dives back into the cheesecake, looking quite happy about it too, "it would be nice to know it's actually getting used for something. You could even tan out back, unless you're, like, Irish Irish and you burn to a crisp."
—-
Abbey looks amused and chuckles. "Eh.. I tend to burn actually." Not to mention scar badly as well. "Though I still swim when ever I get the chance. I might take you up on that offer."
—-
"Well, don't let me forget to get you a key before you go tonight." Migs slides off of the chair again, "I'm going to get more coffee, would you like me to freshen up your cup?" The akita perks up, getting back up, "No, no more cake for you. Your food's in the bedroom."
—-
Abbey chuckles softly and nods with a smile. "Alright.. An no I'm good with what I have. But thanks." She offers while peering at the dog. "So where did you get him from?"
—-
"There's a no kill shelter in West Dallas, couple of miles from your shop. Apparently he just got abandoned on their front step. They think he must have been a gift that someone decided they didn't want anymore. because he doesn't have any medical problems or anything. I never understood why people think it's a good idea to give animals as gifts."
—-
Abbey ohs softly and nods while watching Mignonette and smiles. "Well that's good.. That your saved him and so forth. It is sad that so many pets are abandoned. An people just feel that they are doing something good fora friend and what not."
—-
"Yes, but they're not a stuffed toy, or a box of candy. They're living, breathing, feeling creatures. And yeah, they might be cute on Christmas, but then they need to be walked, and fed and bathed and taken care of, and you don't know if the person you're giving them to actually wants that responsibility." Migs makes herself another cup of coffee, before she heads back to the table, "I would never do that to an animal."
—-
Abbey nods slightly. "Oh I know that." This offered softly. "But a lot of people don't feel that way about animals." She smirks. "An in Texas well.. What do you expect?" This questioned with an amused tone.
—-
"Well, they should. Just because an animal can't speak to you doesn't mean it can't feel." Migs settles back in, "But enough about my gripes about animal cruelty. Tell me more about Dakota. And the shop. have you moved out yet?"
—-
Abbey hums softly and soon shakes her head. "No.. Not yet anyway." She offers softly. "I keep meaning to look but just don't get around to it." This said with a soft tone before she smiles. "Dakota is a good pup.. Nice to have a dog around again."
—-
"You should make it a priority. I can even help you with a couple of good rental agents. It's just not good to sleep where you work. And you need to start dating. you're a pretty girl, business owner, you're a catch." Oh no…southern busybody anyone?
—-
Abbey smirks slightly and takes in a faint breath. "Well.. Sure.. I'll take what ever help I can get." Another sip is taken from her cup and she sputters softly at the dating part. "Ya.. I'm not good at the dating thing.. Its not that easy." This said softly. Especially when your a wolf.
—-
"What exactly isn't easy about it? I mean, it's not like you can't go out and meet people? You're not like, growing an extra limb, or have three eyes or something. You're smart and funny and successful. I think you don't give yourself enough credit, that's what I think." Migs finally finishes her second, mostly, slice of cake, and after a peek in the box, decide to not actually be a fatty and go for another slice.
—-
Abbey ponders how to answer that, its not like she can talk about being a wolf after all. "I just have a hard time trusting people.. Guys included. An by the time I trust them seems someone else and swooped in and I'm off there radar." She shrugs slightly at this while glancing to her mostly empty cup.
—-
Migs shakes her head, "Sometimes, you have to take a leap of faith. Find someone you're comfortable with, go out and spend time with them and work on the trust. Trust takes time, and that's a good thing, but you have to go with your gut sometimes too." She pauses, "I didn't plan that, you know, with Brian. It just happened."
—-
Abbey ehs softly at that and sets the cup down. "Ya.. I suppose so. I've just never been a very good judge of character.. Especially when it comes to guys." She glances to Migs a moment, a slight smile seen. "I didn't mean you and Brian.." No she meant Adam, not that Migs would know that name. She actually had started liking the doctor, an of course it turned out to be another guy that got away. "Its alright.. I have Dakota anyway."
—-
"And I have Kirill, but it's not quite the same thing, and you need human affection, and not just the kind you get from your friends and employees. As far as judge of character goes, not every guy is going to turn out to be a winner, believe me. And some guys, you think they're going to be one thing to you and they turn out to be something else entirely, and sometimes that's okay, sometimes it's not. But nobody wins 100% of the time."
—-
Abbey shrugs at this, her fingers picking at her jeans a moment. "I suppose so." She offers softly. "Its not like I've never had anyone. Just turned out to be the wrong one.. Each time." Her pale gaze turns to Migs. "I just think if its suppose to happen then it will."
—-
Migs looks over at her friend, her expression understanding, but still, her tone is questioning, "But is it ever going to happen if you keep saying to yourself, "I'm no good with relationships? Trust your heart. Your heart is smarter than your head's every going to be, Abbey."
—-
"Most likely not." Abbey offers while shrugging a moment. "Problem is.. I tend to be alright with it most of the time." Well of course she's lonely, it would be nice to have someone to turn to and speak with that she could trust in that way. A faint eh escapes her and she smiles slightly. "Anyway.. I should get going. Sam needs to leave the garage soon an i don't want to keep him waiting." This said while she stands up.
—-
"So am I. Most of the time. And then the rest of the time I'm not." As she sees Abbey get up to leave, "Hang on a minute." Migs slides back down from her seat, padding over towards the kitchen, and the key tree she has set up there. She pulls down a set on a new fob and carries them over towards Abbey, "Take the keys, come by whenever you like. No wild parties, no tearing up the furniture." A smile, "You're always welcome in my home, Abbey."
—-
Abbey smiles a bit and nods, turning to go but pauses and hums softly while glancing back. She ohs and holds a hand out to take hold of the keys. "Are you sure?.." She questions curiously.
—-
"Yes, I'm sure. I like my furniture." Migs reaches forward, pressing the keys into Abbey's hands, "My house is your house. You always have a place to stay, for whatever reason." That said, she steps back, "And I'm sure Dakota wouldn't mind a nice yard to run around in."
—-
Abbey takes hold of the keys and keeps her smile before nodding. "Thank you Mignonette.. An I bet he would." She chuckles while pocking the keys after pulling her car keys out. "I'll have to bring him over so he can meet Kirill soon." With this said she moves on towards the door. "I'll talk to you later."
—-
Migs follows you to the door, as is only polite for a guest and a friend, "Kirill would love that. I think he misses having a doggy friend to play with. And from the sounds of it, their size won't be a problem. I'll talk to you later, Abbey. you take care, alright?"
—-
Abbey waves a hand once she is outside. "Course I will.. You to. If you need anything give me a call." This said while she makes her way down the path towards her car, which she opens the door and hopes into and starts up before driving off.
