The Stockyards is both tourist trap and a local hangout all rolled into one. The main strip is a cacophony of neon lettering announcing bars boasting of mechanical bull riding within, dance clubs and souvenir shops. The street pulls from the historic past, with the overhangs and wooden, raised sidewalks for pedestrian traffic.

Further down the road, is where the main activity for the area happens; the arena where stock auctions take place as well as the rodeo, which always seems to be 'in town'.
