Description

Fresh-faced, this young woman is all soft angles and light colors. Petite, she rises to a not-so-impressive height of 5'1". Despite her height, her figure is one of natural, feminine curves that she tends to draw attention to with her clothing. Skin naturally an ivory hue, it is generally tanned due to the Texas sun. Soft, smooth hair a light golden hue tumbles down to the middle of her back when left down. Wide, bright blue eyes make her appear ever curious. Her smile is a soft, dimpled one.

Biography

☮ Childhood

Ella's childhood was a pleasant one, albeit stuffed to the brim with activities her upper middle class parents selected for her: horseback riding, piano lessons, singing tutors, and so on. Like every other child who wanted to please their parents, she approached each activity and gave it her all. Unfortunately, she never was good at most of them - her fingers weren't quick enough to dance across the piano keys, not could she ever get the hang of riding other than clinging to the horse for dear life. Her voice was nothing more than mediocre and - while not awful - was just moderately pleasant, but much too soft.

There was one activity that she begged her parents to try, though, which they were reluctant to give permission for: ballet. Ella's Aunt Rebecca had been a professional ballerina for the premiere New York City Ballet Company when she was young, but the pressure to stay thin and keep up became a bit much. She was fired. Ashamed, she bought a one-way ticket to Europe and no one has heard from her since. Ella, of course, had no knowledge of this - what she did know was that she enjoyed prancing around in poufy outfits in front of her stuffed animals to the tune of Swan Lake. The Monroes finally gave in, at least glad there was something that occupied Ella's short attention span.

It wasn't meant to be. Although she was more than flexible enough, Ella never could turn her body into that of a professional ballerina. She was too short, her turn-out - so vital to dance - was never wide enough. Try as she might, she never could shed her curves to turn her figure into the thin, lean form expected of her. After years of discouragement from teachers, her parents pulled her out at the age of 15 when her feet just could not handle the Pointe shoes. Although devastated at first, she joined her high school's cheerleading team to fill in her now vacant schedule. That program transformed her from a quiet, soft-spoken girl to a slightly louder, more passionate young woman. Her short stature made her easier to throw around, so she became one of the squad's flyers through the rest of high school. Her talent was not enough - or at least not showcased enough - to get her a college scholarship, however.

☮ Academia

Ella was never an academic. Writing was the bane of her existence - though she did very much enjoy reading almost anything. Numbers swirled in her head to the point of confusion, formulas were too difficult to remember verbatim. With heavy tutoring when not in school or at cheerleading practice, Ella had very little free time but managed to graduate with average grades. Her parents, both doctors, were mildly disappointed that their only child would not follow in their footsteps. To appease them, she decided to study nursing - fitting, given her gentle and reassuring personality. With a little bit of luck and an alumni donation, Ella was accepted to her parents' alma mater, Southern Methodist University.

It was up to Ella to stay in school after her parents made sure she was accepted. She was a freshman at SMU when the Great Revelation happened. Her very religious parents, still off in Chicago, promptly took the offensive side - they became extreme Fellowship of the Sun supporters since day one. Ella, however, was beginning to find herself and expand her horizons. She had always harbored pacifist, peaceful ideas and feelings that contrasted with her parents. College gave her an opportunity to express those feelings, though. vampires posed no threat - why were they hated and persecuted? The more she learned, the more fascinated she became with vampires - and becoming one someday.

☮ The Real World

When Ella began volunteering for the American Vampire League in her second semester of her freshman year, her parents cut her off immediately. It was perfect timing, really, because Ella had just dropped - or failed, depending on who you ask - out of nursing school. With no money nor dorms to stay in, Ella had to find a job - and fast. Luckily, Fitness World was hiring someone for the front desk, and she interviewed well enough to land the job. A perk with employment there was that she could take one free class. She had always hated swimming or punching things, so yoga seemed to be the best fit.

Ella needed something to restore peace and harmony in her life - plus, yoga helped her keep and enhance her flexibility, the one thing she prided herself in. Over the next two years, Ella loved it so much that she became certified and trained with the very same teacher at Fitness World. When that teacher ran off to explore India, Ella naturally resumed the role. The job doesn't pay particularly well, but it is enough to provide her with a quiet apartment, maintain her old black Honda Civic, sate her love of the night life in Dallas, and work on a regular basis for the American Vampire League.

Personality

Ella really wishes everyone would just get along - she had heard her parents tirade about those not like them to the point where the raised voices drove her to the opposite end of the belief spectrum. She was often quiet growing up - even now she is soft-spoken despite her passionate pursuit of equality and fairness. She is vehement in her - perhaps naive - belief that all can live together in balance and harmony. She places the blame of turmoil on those that do not accept others rather than those that seeking acceptance. A pacifist, she believes that everyone's lives are important in the scheme of the universe. When the Great Revelation came, Ella accepted the vampires with an open mind, mainly due to their ability to live off synthetic blood. Still, she often finds herself wondering what it might be like to be bitten - her work with the American Vampire League only makes her more intrigued by the whole vampire sphere. She is hesitant to join any religion because of the chaos it seems to cause, though she does generally believe in the concept of karma.

Generally personable, Ella tries to get along with everyone, though her brand of friendliness is quiet and tender rather than particularly outgoing. Ardent in her beliefs, she attempts to sway those who do not share her views with gentle persuasiveness and logic rather than picking a fight. Always one to smile softly at those who look like they need a good cheering-up, she attempts to make the most of every new day - because who knows how many more will come? Although it might seem to contrast with her sunny optimism, Ella often finds herself thinking about death - or potential alternatives. If she knew there was an eternity ahead of her, each day would just be a tad bit more enjoyable. While she figures life out, she is enjoying it to the fullest, often out enjoying the Dallas night life when she has the time and funds to do so. Despite her - what seems constant - lack of funds, Ella enjoys what life has dealt her so far all the same.

Skills and Abilities

Yoga
Ella has been studying yoga for almost three years now, and become quite good at it - good enough, in fact, that she teaches a class of it at Fitness World. She took several advanced classes and has been certified as an instructor.
Flexible
Even as a little girl, Ella has always been flexible - that's the one thing she really took from ballet class. Although it might not seem to come in handy that often, it sure does on the dance floor or in a crowded bar.
Friendly
Although quiet at times, Ella is a kind person who likes to get along with people. Known as a peacemaker in her social groups, she often mediates disputes. She has a very calming, peaceful nature about her, and she always has a soft smile for almost anyone.
Drink Mixing
Ella has been in enough bars to know what she likes, and she has a good tongue for tasting different flavors - as long as it's not dairy. She's also been in poor financial straits often enough to learn how to mix cheap alcohol into delicious drinks. It's a self-taught thing.

Non-Racial Weaknesses

Sensitive
Whether she will admit it or not, Ella is very sensitive and emotional. Although she really does want everyone to get along, she also wants everyone to accept /her/ too. It is very disappointing for her if someone doesn't like her - when she's really upset, she can even mope for days… until something else grabs her attention.
Attention Span
Ella has trouble focusing on mental tasks for very long. Physical tasks are more her cup of tea - she could sit folding laundry for hours, but ask her to write an essay and it will never get done. Her mind wanders unless she is doing something with her body as well - she is best to have a conversation with while dancing or practicing yoga. This has led to her poor academic record and inevitable dropping out of nursing school.
Naïve
Frankly, Ella probably puts too much stock in people. She firmly believes that the world could be happy and full of sunshine if people just put their differences aside. She actually thinks it could happen, too, were it not for the Fellowship of the Sun and other - what she sees as bigoted - organizations.
Lactose Intolerant
Pretty self-explanatory. No cheese, no pizza, no ice cream.
Cooking
Ella doesn't like to cook - she's never been particularly domestic - and she doesn't particularly enjoy eating, either, since she foods she used to love as a child are now forbidden to her. Drinking is more her thing. Aside from that, pretty much anything elaborate she has ever tried to make has ended up burnt. She hates cooking because she's horrible at it.
