Biography
Wit was born and raised on the mean streets of London. At least that's what he tells people. It's not entirely accurate by any means. Wit was born Alexander Xavier DeWit, the son of an influential businessman and socialite, part of London's elite upper crust. The second son of William DeWit and Martha DeWit was born with a metaphorical silver spoon in his mouth. However, his life of privilege soon bored him. Ever the consummate troublemaker and liar, Wit was kicked out of a string of expensive private schools, starting as early as grade five.
Wit always had a certain amount of book smarts — that much was clear from the not amazing, but not exceedingly bad grades he earned in school. His real talent lies within street smarts, however. Nearing high school, Wit got involved with the 'wrong' crowd. Incidentally, it just happened to be the right crowd for him. With his new found friends, Wit began to develop a love of the streets. It was an exotic world so unlike the one he was raised in. With his new friends, he learned how to pick locks, use a switchblade, and brawl with the best of them. Wit's most innate talent seemed to lie within the fine science of con artistry and weaving intricate webs of deceit. In his second year of secondary school, Wit dropped out of school and decided to devote his life to being a ne'er-do-well. With mounting pressure from his family to go back to school, Wit up and disappeared. After having liberated a few credit cards from mummy's purse, he made his way to America.
Unfortunately for Wit, this left a digital trail. He was drug back home forcibly by his father. Wit finished out secondary school on time with the help of a private tutor. It was then that Wit was given an ultimatum: stay in London and go to university, or travel the world at his father's expense, returning home by the age of twenty-five and be subject to an arranged marriage, in order to boost his family's relations. The choice was simple to Wit - a life away from home even for the briefest of periods was better than what he considered no life at all. The deal was done, and Wit retained access to his considerable trust fund. He set off for America to reinvent himself.
And reinvent himself he did. Wit was no longer Alexander DeWit, but just 'Wit'. His first stop was New York, where he got addicted to cocaine almost straight away. The nightlife of New York reeled Wit in, sucked him up, and then viciously spit him out. After a near overdose on cocaine, Wit decided it was time for a change of scenery. Along the way he started to consider the vampire issue. Not that it's much of an issue to him. Wit's stance is thus: Live and let live - or let be undead. As long as no bloodsuckers try to feed off of him, everything is kosher. He even went to a few American Vampire League meetings. He has a strong curiosity about vampires, but not enough of one to be one - at least he doesn't think so. After a few adventures on the road, Wit has found himself in Dallas - until the wind blows him in another direction. Live fast, die young, and leave a beautiful corpse. Hopefully.
Character Details
Wit was never your typical rich kid. Perhaps your typical /bored/ rich kid, but with the heart of a true street rat. Wit is a social chameleon, changing from situation to situation as needed. He's usually fairly laidback, only interested in having a good time. His idea of a good time deviates from the norm a bit though. Loud noises, breaking and entering, drug use, and careless sex are a few of his favorite things. Not to mention social and mental games. Occassionally Wit can be quite vicious, but only in extreme circumstances. It's rare that he feels a true kinship with anyone at all, but when he does, he's fiercely loyal. For the most part, Wit sees other people as instruments or tools in his various schemes to get whatever it is he wants. Luckily for most, he has everything he wants at his fingertips. On the other end of the spectrum, Wit is generally a sociable person who will talk to almost anyone. Including vampires. ESPECIALLY vampires - if they have a few good stories to tell. The spice of life is variety, and Wit likes variety in the people and things he surrounds himself with. Wit often tries to downplay his money if he even chooses to let anyone know about it - people are more genuine when they don't want anything from you. Which gives Wit a better insight about what he might want from someone else. Wit can be arrogant from time to time, but for the most part, he knows he can better himself - all lessons, even the simplest, are lessons nonetheless. The one thing that Wit simply detests (other than a bad cut of cocaine) is being bested at his own game of social intrigue. Nothing pisses him off so much.
Relationships
Name | Race | Relation | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Hope | Human | An Acquaintance | Rose's twin sister. They share a common goal: to make sure no (more) harm comes to Rose. |
London Grace | ?? | The Bitch | Chance encounters have led London to take a particular interest in Wit. He's not sure if he likes it, but he's amused by her antics and sheer bitchiness. She's a feisty one - and now that she knows his deepest 'secret', he's keeping her especially close. She's been MIA for a while now and Wit worries about her more than he'd like to admit. |
Michael | Vampire | Mysterious Mojo | While not entirely sure what Michael's deal is, Wit feels wary around him. Enough so that his very presence makes Wit scamper in the other direction most of the time. |
Rose | Human | The Innocent | Definitely insane, definitely cute, Wit is keeping an eye out for her. At first he thought she was just 'quirky', but the truth is much sadder and now Wit feels a skewed sense of duty towards her. |
Sipho | Vampire | Kindred Spirit | During all the instances that they've met, Wit has enjoyed Sipho's company. His main goal at the moment is to get Sipho to tell him some awesome stories. Vampires all have them, why is he so stingy about it? |
Theodore | Vampire | The Innocent, part 2 | Not at all your atypical vampire. Hates violence, doesn't much care for blood, acts more like a little kid or a rabbit than a bloodsucking fiend. Wit enjoys having him around. He's something of a fixture at the townhouse. |
